Japan Earth Quake and Tsunami Disaster Relief

In response to the overwhelming desire by many who are asking about what they can do to help meet the physical and spiritual needs of the people in Japan we offer the following suggestions on how you can help. As many of you know the Japanese people are the second largest unreached people group in the world. The terror of the initial earthquake and tsunami falls on the backdrop of this spiritual darkness.

First: Please Pray

  • - That people will turn to Christ in this time of need.
  • - That Jan and I would have the strength and wisdom on how best to meet the needs of those God brings to us.
  • - That the Nuclear Power plant situation would be quickly brought under control.
  • - That a lady named Takako Utsumi who has been missing since earthquake/tsunami would be found. She is a close friend of one of our Japanese ladies that comes to the house.
  • - That those who are suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome (PTSD) would find solace in Christ.

  • Answered:

  • - Yuki Ida, our Japanese Cadence missionary from Tokyo arrived safe and sound and is joining our team here in Misawa in sharing the gospel.
  • - Yuki, Jan and I have been able to have many conversations this past week with our Japanese friends about Christianity. Our outreach on March 23rd was very fruitful.
  • - The main highway running north and south has been reopened, airports are functional and fuel rationing has ended. Food and medical supplies are sufficient
  • - The 38 American English teachers from MeySen Academy (Sendei) who were evacuated to Misawa this week have been situated.
